Overview
Who participates in a Global Advance Marketplace International project?
Global Advance Marketplace International projects are open for experienced Christian business people. Spouses are welcome to attend.
Do I need any immunizations?
For good health, tetanus and MMR shots need to be up-to-date. For further information, go to www.cdc.gov/travel to check information about your specific destination. This website will also tell you where shots are given. Check to see if you can go to your local health department.
What kind of clothes do I need to take?
Check www.weather.com for the weather conditions of your destination. Generally, dress should be conservative and shouldn't call attention to you as a foreigner. Global Advance Marketplace will inform participants if particular types of clothing will be needed.
Do I have to speak the language?
No. We will have interpreters where necessary. However, if you speak a foreign language, please let us know.
What kind of preparation is involved for each project?
We will send you preparatory information several weeks before your project, including information on your project, any teaching materials needed and applicable logistics.
How are projects funded?
Projects are funded through donations, each participant will be asked to make a minimum $250 donation toward on the ground project cost. Each person will be responsible for all of his/her own expenses (flight, hotel, food, incidentals). The amount will differ depending on your destination.
Are there special qualifications needed to go on a project?
Participants must have a servant's heart and a willingness to learn about other peoples and cultures. Flexibility is a must!
What medical issues might prevent me from going on a project?
As long as you are in good health, you should have no problems on our projects. However, each project will have its own requirements. We are not trying to exclude anyone, but we want to be sure that everyone is prepared and will have no problems while overseas. You are encouraged to check with your personal physician before planning overseas travel.
Will I be able to go sightseeing on my project?
A time for fun, seeing things of interest or some shopping can be built onto the end of the schedule. However, the majority of your time will be spent on the pro-ject you have selected.
