THE GOSPEL’S POWER IN VIETNAM!

Crazy busy streets.  Thousands of motorbikes cutting in every direction.  Not an empty boulevard to be found.  Cranes and shiny new towers arising everywhere casting shadows over the foulest of slums.  Among the 15 million or so people in this city, there is one follower of Christ for every 50,000 persons.  This is Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Vietnam currently boasts the second fastest growing economy in the world, according to some sources.  And God’s Kingdom economy is growing rapidly too.  Although vastly outnumbered, today’s Christians in Vietnam are vibrant, full of life and industrious.  There is a swell of young, new followers of Jesus.  They are marketing directors.  They are business entrepreneurs.  They are students.  They are hotel operators.  They are mothers and fathers caring for abandoned kids.  What a great place to be right now!  Believers here will not be outnumbered for long because there is an attractiveness to their faith.

For almost a decade, Global Advance has been pouring into Christian marketplace leaders and pastors in Vietnam.  The power of the Gospel is at work!

We met Elizabeth, a 26-year old marketing executive, at her office.  Just last November, she was on the verge of suicide.  Her father had abused her and she was hopeless and full of hate.  That all changed the night her bosses (the owners of the company who just hired her) invited her to a small group meeting at their home.  She heard the Gospel for the first time and prayed to receive salvation.  In an instant, Jesus began a healing work in her heart and melted away the hatred.

Today, Elizabeth is soaking in the word of God and is being mentored in Christ by her friends and co-workers.  God has given her incredible abilities as a marketing professional.  She recently won a sizeable Samsung S8 contract for the nation!

God’s presence was strong at our Marketplace conference where we partnered with CBMC, a Christian business network.  That same week, we had the privilege of encouraging and training 120 pastors- many who traveled over 1,000 kilometers.

I am so encouraged by what God is doing in Vietnam.  Elizabeth’s story is just one of many miracles we have seen through God’s hand at work in Vietnam.  Thank you for your partnership in equipping frontline leaders for the Great Commission.
