THE FARTHEST REACHES OF THE GOSPEL IN AFGHANISTAN
Global Advance has been quietly investing in a team of leaders from across Afghanistan who are binding together to disciple the emerging church in Afghanistan. These brave men have committed their lives to see the Great Commission realized in their nation. They work in secret to strengthen networks of believers, and by standing shoulder to shoulder, they find strength and encouragement in this life-threatening mission.
Afghanistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians. Afghan Christians worship in secret due to the fear of persecution. Christ followers are seen as betrayers of family, tribe, and country; small communities of believers risk their lives each time they gather in small house meetings.
Experience shows that one of the best ways to reach Afghans with the gospel is through local discipleship networks. In May, Global Advance gathered the Afghanistan national team leaders in a clandestine location to encourage and equip them for their work. We trained them in our Lifebook spiritual leadership series, a 52-week devotional guide, and even found time for some fun! We sent them out loaded with digital discipleship material, phones, and SD cards for them to distribute and teach God’s Word. With your help, we are mobilizing leaders on a global scale to reach the most difficult places on earth.
Pray with us that the secret church in Afghanistan will grow in unity and number. Pray that God will raise up more leaders among indigenous believers to preach the Word and to make disciples. Pray for the protection of these secret Christians living in areas that are tightly controlled by radical groups. Pray for opportunities for believers to connect with fellow Christians, and for God to strengthen the underground church.
